Saint Mary Academy expects students to perform community service as part of their development as Christians. The following are minimum expectations for each grade level:
Grades 5 – 8: 10 hours/year Grades 1-4: 4 hours/year
Various ways to serve include: altar serving; volunteering at area soup kitchens; helping at area food pantries; raking leaves or shoveling snow for incapacitated neighbors; helping at the SMA Santa Breakfast, spaghetti supper; Dover Holiday Parade; weeding community gardens and yards; visiting the sick or elderly at area nursing homes; helping at area thrift shops.
Student community service hours can be added via Sycamore.
